Spoon Saga – Letter from Anchorage AK

And would you believe that after escaping from Dish (the Spoon-napper) my dear Spoon has decided to travel. First Hawaii and now Alaska. What next?

This letter arrived from Anchorage Alaska…

Wow, Buddy and I sure had a terrific time in Nome. When we weren’t freezing that is. We saw lots of dishes at the Iditarod Musher’s banquet but not the one stupid dish that was supposed to run away with me. So I have decided to quit looking for it. I’m having way too much fun to waste time looking for a dumb dish that wouldn’t take me with it. So no more looking for dish.

But, guess what happened when I was looking for dish…Buddy and I ran into a good friend of his named Sigu at the Musher’s banquet. Sigu means sea ice in the Kimikmiut dialect of the Inupiaq language. He was named that because he was made of hardy clear material. Unfortunately we found him after all our pictures were made. So we will bring him home with us when we can find a way to get back to the farm.

Buddy and I hope you enjoy the enclosed pictures. We hope all is well at the farm and hope to see you soon…that is of course if you don’t mind Buddy and Sigu coming home with me.

Love Spoon Buddy and Sigu

He attached the following pictures…

Picture 1 (above) is of Buddy and I visiting the Nome National Forest which consist of real former Christmas trees stuck in the 4′ deep Bering Sea Ice, along with assorted plywood animals and other critters.

Pic 2 (also above) is the rest of the forest.

Pic 3 (above top) self explanatory.

Pic 4 (above bottom) One of the plywood Gnomes welcoming Iditarod Mushers off of the sea ice and ?__? (a word I couldn’t decipher like ono) front street in Nome.

Pic 5 – Buddy and I watching an Iditarod musher crossing the tundra before descending to the sea ice about 4mi from Nome.

Pic 6 – Buddy and I visiting with the winner of the 2009 Iditarod Sled Dog Racing, Lance Mackey. This is the third year in a row he has won. He is a cancer survivor and has gone through lots of treatments but can still win the race. He had throat cancer.

Pic 7 – Buddy and I hanging out in the 8ft snow bank by the place we stayed.

So, there you have it! The latest on the Spoon Spoof. Now I have to interject for a moment. I am NOT doing this. You might have noticed the 2009 date. This prank has been going on since the fall of 2009 and I STILL don’t have my spoon back.

I have more correspondence that I will continue to post for your enjoyment but since I had it come a little at a time I decided to post it for you in the same fashion. That way is more fun, but know that I am still in the middle of this spoof.

The spoon in the pictures is really my kitchen spoon. I’ve scoped it with a magnifying glass and inspected the pictures for some kind of photo editing. I can find nothing to suggest that my very own spoon hasn’t been all the places pictured.

I get a giggle every time I look at Lance’s face. He looks pretty baffled don’t you think?  I should see if he blogs and introduce myself. Can you just imagine what the person holding the camera told him?

Too funny!
